  1. Wow! She's done it again. Miss Hilton never ceases to surprise me. She's the new Brittney Spears! I find this article amusing and it gave me a good laugh. However, the shocking part to me is that Yahoo posted this. I would expect this from some crazy tabloid but definitely not a site like Yahoo! But i guess it was a good story so why not use it, right?

  3. Nothing like this ever surprises me, people living on such a grand scale don't have to worry about things such as petty jail times, (her 23 day stay for "alcohol-related reckless driving") and getting out on bail paying 2000 dollars which is chump change to them. I'm sure Ms. Hilton won't be in jail for too long, her sentence being punishable by 1 to 4 years. She will go in, and get out, early, because of something like good behavior. Was this story prominent? Sure, in the industry of Hollywood actors and actresses. How can we make something like being arrested more costly? Perhaps if bail pricing was taxed by the amount of money you make on your salary, or the amount of money you have. Any opinions on that idea?

  4. this is a promenent story because it catches the readers eye onve they see. Seeing Paris Hilton's face on any tabloid cover is almost guranteed to be a good story. Authors know whether its a mother in line at the grocery store or a kid window shopping at the mall...people will want to read this story. Another contributing factor to this story is that once again Paris Hilton has done something illegal...and again with drugs. As we discussed in class this morning people would rather read about negative things than the positives, which makes this scandal even more juicy...who doesn't love a good juicy story. As humans we love to hear rumors and gossip...but when it turns out to be true its even better...and for that we thank you Ms.Hilton.

  5. They write these articles because the public loves to follow Paris Hilton. The public is addicted to controversy and no one creates more of it than her. And she knows this and uses it as an advantage. She creates more trouble in order to gain more publicity and we let it happen. They make articles like this because this is what the public wants to read. The only way for them to stop writing articles like this, is if we stop reading it, and I don't think that's going to happen.

  6. This is a promenent story because it catches other peoples eyes because its about Paris! Who doesnt love these kinds of stories? Anything with the title of Paris Hilton or Britney Spears, people are bound to read the story because they are interesting people and ALL of the stories that are about them are JUICY! Plus its great publicity for them! If she does go to jail she will not make the sentence of 1-4 years because she will get special treatment just like all the other stars! To me, its not that shocking to me that she is in this type of story because we are talking about Paris Hilton people!

  9. To me I find Paris Hilton kind of sad, she goes to jail for how many times, gets out early and goes and does it again. She just cant relize that its kind of pointless of what she is doing. But she proberly does it for the attenction. On another topic it didnt really shock me when our teacher said in class that paris Hilton has yet to be seen for filling the statement of helping out kids and all that. At first when i read it i thought; hey maybe shes starting to relize that maybe its time to change her life. Instead of using her money on jail bails, and drugs she can use that money that shes wasting on something good. But, that proberly wouldnt be as intersting to read as this article. oh well..

  10. oh right..
this article was promenent because it was intersting to read.

  11. To answer jerzy's question about the bail being increased there is a law that prevents that. Its the law of no excessive bail or something. Paris Hilton lives a carefree, arrogant lifestyle and petty crimes don't seem to phase her. She will simply pay bail and get away with this. Its the same thing again and again so why do we pay attention to this story. Hilton is only famous for being famous. The spoiled heiress continues to get arrested and find a way to get herself in trouble. In the end its just sad that somebody with so many oppertunities, due to her families power and money to do good would throw it all away for this sad lifestyle.

The reason this is such a prominent story is because it’s what the people want to hear. People have nothing better to do besides criticize these poor celebrities. Don’t get me wrong in this case, Paris Hilton is not in the least bit correct but it’s their business, not the medias. But sometimes you wonder if the celebrities are doing this on purpose just to get more attention. The quote that Ms. Dimezza told us really intrigued me. “Any publicity, is good publicity.” I thought to myself, wow this is actually true. Anyways the reason this article is so prominent is simply because people are always on the watch for when a celebrity messes up. But most times I don’t it’s an accident.

  13. This article on Paris Hilton does not surprise me because you've seen these types of stories on so many different celebrities. First from Lindsay Lohan, to Britney Spears, and now to Paris. This is a prominent article because this is what people love to see and hear about, the latest gossip on what the celebrities are doing. To a common normal person living an every day average life, thats boring, and reading about celebrities and what they're doing is more exciting than what's going on around the world. Thats the reason for paparazzi, because if they didn't get all the latest news on celebrities, average people wouldn't have anything to read about or to do. I think it's safe to say most average people would rather read about the life of a celebrity than whats going on around them. I feel as though famous people have the mind set that they can do what they want and they wont get caught or have to pay any consequences for their actions, but this article clearly can prove that wrong. I don't know why celebrities always end up into drugs or doing crazy things, if you're a celebrity, you already have enough attention and publicity as it is, why draw more attention to yourself? I guess some of them just cant get enough of it.

  15. This is a prominent story because people like to hear about famous peoples lives. they like to hear what they are doing and all of the scandalous things that they have done. this is probably one of the reasons why twitter has done so well. And in paris' case, she has always been known for her partying and people want to know what she has done this time. whether this is just a publicity stunt or not, people are still intrigued to know what she has done, so this makes it a prominent story.

  16. i agree with andrew and jaclyn most celeberties just want to here about themselves. Like Ms.Dimezza said some of these people believe," There is no such thing as bad Publicity." These celeberties just want to make sure that they don't become washed up and forgotten and in like ten years end up being on one of those roast shows. Us Americans love to read this kind of stuff because we love seeing other peoples misery as long as it isnt ours...which isnt exactly a good way to go about life.

  17. This story is prominent because it is a major article on a celebrity in our country. This article is a negative article on Paris Hilton, who is very famous for acting on many TV Shows and playing roles in movies. This also comes from a reliable and frequently used website, Yahoo. People like to read these types of articles because to the public, celebrity mistakes are fun to read about. It seems that way. Not to long ago Tiger Woods made a life - changing mistake and in this case Paris Hilton made a poor judgement also. Look at how much attention these two stories have gotten. I think it was interesting to read about and it shows that all Paris Hilton wants is to be in the spotlight. I understand that she made a bad choice and that people can read about, but sometimes it seems that the press and tabloids take it too far and invade celebrity's privacy. That is just the way it is.

It appears that celebrities with the wealth and fame of Paris Hilton feel that they are above the rest of us. Paris Hilton was born into a wealthy family, and because she is wealthy, she is used to having everything taken care of for her. All of her problems can be solved with her parents’ money. All of her possessions and wealth have made her feel indestructible, and she doesn’t have to work to impress or earn the approval of others, which is especially clear in this article. I would be so terrified of being caught with any kind of addicting drug that would harm my position in today’s society, but since Paris Hilton was born into a famous, upper class family, she doesn’t have to worry. It makes me wonder what tomorrow’s youth will be like, because a lot of young children have celebrity role models, and I feel that if these role models behave in this sort of way our future is in trouble.

  19. It doesn't surprise me to find Paris Hilton's name dominating the media and tabloid magazines once again. Throughout the years, she has presented herself as the "party princess" to the general public, and it doesn't seem like she's ready to step down just yet. Once again, Paris is caught up with legal troubles. Though it may seem like she made just another mistake, something a normal human being encounters on a daily basis, I think she is attention-seeking and will do whatever she can to get her name out there. This article is prominent because the world we live in revolves around the media. As the media sets one of its main focuses on the lives of celebrities, we can't help but fight the urge to want to read these types of stories. Seeing a celebrity like Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan being caught up in the news seems normal in our lives. So next time Paris Hilton gets into trouble, I can almost guarantee that a large amount of people will go running into their local newsstand to find out what happened.

  20. I think this story is prominent because it's something that everyone gossips about. Sure, if someone like Obama did something good for our country people would be talking about it, but when the police get involved & drugs come into the story, everyone always wants to know what happens. People talk & it's just like a game of telephone, the story is spread wrong & then people get hurt. In a way though, this story is not prominent because along with my peers, none of us are shocked that this happens. Most of us are just thinking, "Paris Hilton..Here she goes again..." By this I mean, it was expected from her. It seems unfair to me that she just keeps going on & on, making bad decisions, & unlike an ordinary person, she gets away with it & doesn't learn her lesson because she knows no matter what, she could always buy her way out of things. This is unfair because a girl like Paris should be taught of a lesson & sent to jail for four years, while a person who was only caught with drugs once might be in prison for life. This is why this article is & is not prominent & my opinion on it.

  21. This is a prominent story because the second the name Paris Hilton is read in the headline on Yahoo.com, a lot more people are likely to click on it. People will probably think: "Oh what did she do this time. Some people will find her lack of judgment entertaining and others will be shocked but either way, they would probably share it with their friends via Facebook or email and a lot of people would find out. Paris Hilton has pretty much everything that she could possibly want including money, fame, and popularity. She has probably has never been told anything like "No you can not have this" or "No you can not do this", and because of that, she thinks she can do whatever she wants, whenever she wants and always have her lavish lifestyle. Unfortunately, what she thinks is true. In a couple weeks pretty much everyone will forget about this and she will be back in the news but only because she is starring in some new film. In a couple months, she will probably be caught with drugs again but she will be bailed out of jail in a few hours and the same thing will happen again. There should be a law stating that after someone is arrested multiple times, they can't be bailed out again so that they get the punishment they deserve. If a person isn't properly punished, they will continue to do the crime. That is what i think of Paris Hilton's arrest.

  22. I wouldn't consider them "poor celebrities" People like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Brittney Spears make these choices for publicity, good or bad. She doesn't see consequences in her actions because she's protected by her parents money that she will soon inherit. Therefor she won't be punished and will continue to lead an unhappy life style. Readers are drawn to articles such as this because some people look up to celebrities like her as role models and then refrain from idolizing when they see them mess up. Sometimes readers also plainly have nothing better to do with their lives and soak up all the gossip and scandral they can. I am absolutley not suprised because we read about situations like this all the time. Some of us see things like this every day and aren't phased by it. (drugs and partying)

  23. The thing about Paris Hilton is that she doesn't know the right things to do with her fame & fortune. This punishment is good for her because she needs to learn to not get into all this drama & drugs. Its bad for her. She always says that she will start to help different causes but it never happens. The arrest is a good thing for her because she was in possesion of marijuana & she has gotten into so much trouble in the past months&even years.

  24. The celebrities that are known to party don't surprise anyone anymore. They're now there for everyones amusement. Paris isn't taken seriously she never has been. Everyones like "oh Paris is in jail again." "oh shes getting out at the end of the month. Why so late?".

  25. I agree with Sarah, people like Paris Hilton are looked up to by many people. The choices that she has been making are not good choices. People should not follow or want to follow in her footsteps. She should have consequences for her actions just like anyone else. Just because she comes from a wealthy family, does not mean she should be sheltered from the consequences she deserves. But I also believe that everyone should be able to make mistakes, that famous people are just normal people put in the spotlight. People are arrested for these kinds of things all the time but we just never hear about it. Everything celebrities do is being watched. Everyone should be able to have a second chance, although in her case she has had many chances, and she still doesn’t seem to understand.
