He is scheduled to tour the American Cord & Webbing factory in Woonsocket, where the White House says he'll speak with workers.

Later, Obama is expected to attend fundraising events in Providence for the congressional campaigns of Providence Mayor David Cicilline and other candidates.

Cicilline is running against Republican John Loughlin to succeed Democrat Patrick Kennedy in Congress.

Obama hasn't made any endorsement in the governor's race.

Independent candidate Lincoln Chafee, a former Republican senator, made a high-profile endorsement of Obama before the 2008 Democratic primary.

  7. President Obama will be visiting Rhode Island on Monday, October 25, 2010 (today) to raise money for the Democratic House of Representatives' campaigns. He has been visiting numberous states where democrats seem to be losing the November 2nd elections. I think this shows a sudden desperation in the Democratic party, judging that they are using their most powerful figure, the President of the United States, in order to keep control of the House and Congress. This could be a double edged sword though, because Obama's approval rates are so low.

  21. President Obama will travel to Rhode Island this afternoon where he will tour the facilities of American Cord & Webbing in Woonsocket and deliver remarks to the workers. American Cord & Webbing is an example of a company that would suffer under the Republican agenda. Later in the evening, he will deliver remarks at two DCCC receptions in Providence, R.I., raising money for Democrats.

  33. President Obama is visiting this state ( in Woonsocket, RI) today, October 25, 2010.
The president is to arrive at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick at 4 p.m. From there he will go and visit American Cord & Webbing Co. in Woonsocket. (Near my moms work!) He will tour the factory and speak to workers. Next he will make his way to Rhode Island Convention Center for a $500-a-head fundraiser.

Obama is making this trip to campaign for the democrat running for senate in this district.

    hi dimezz!

  36. I do not condone Clinton's actions TYLER!

  37. President Obama is visiting Rhode Island today, October 25, 2010. More specifically in Woonsocket RI because he is touring the American Cord and Webbing factory and then attending fundraising events later on in Providence. He is doing this because he is supporting the mayor of lincoln.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think the President of the United States should be able to take part in campaigning for the candidates. They are part of the same party and they should support each other.

    ReplyDelete
  39. He's also going to eat dinner after at a private home on the East side of Providence.

  40. I agree with Shelby, the entire day is going to be choas.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I agree with Shelby, his visit will be a big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Xinrui, its a waste of time and money. A Democratic candidate getting an endorsement from Obama is like someone running for an office in school getting an endorsement from the superintendent.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Shelby, I agree with you. Do YOU think it's going to help?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Xinrui: Try making a list next time so it is easier to read.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The last president to visit Rhode Island was George W. Bush where he went to the naval war college.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Who: Barack Obama
What: tour the American Cord & Webbing factory and, help Mayor David Cicilline raise money.
    Where:Woonsocket, R.I
    When: October 25, later today
Why: help mayor David Cicilline raise money.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The main reason that President Obama is probably coming to Rhode Island is because he is campaigning for democratic candidates. He is a democrat so obviously he wants his supporters in office, however, I agree with Devin that it is unfair if Obama helps campaign for people because now some people will vote those people into office just because Obama supports them.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Alec, that's not random, but thanks for the interesting fact.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Jonathon, they may not though because his approval rates are STILL dropping.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Jessica, thanks for the advice.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I agree with Shelby. There will probably be Secret Service, police, and helicopers everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love this class!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Xinrui, what's wrong with that is that it provides a springboard for the democrats running for office. Thye may just be "Yes men" to Obama and he may just want them in office to benefit HIM and not the country. Therefore it isn't very ethical to have Obama support an election in Rhode Island.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @ Jessica: if you write a paragraph instead of a list, it will be more detailed and have more information.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Shounak, I guess those people in East Providence won't have a relaxing evening.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I agree with @Shelby- it is going to be a very crazy day!

    ReplyDelete
  57. i agree with shelby, today is going to be so crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  58. President Obama will be coming to Rhode Island today to visit workers at the American Cord and Webbing factory to talk to workers and promote their good work. The President also plans to help raise money in Providence and help David Cicilline in his race for Senator.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ryan I agree with you although they are going to East Side and not East Providence. There will probably snipers perched on every builidng on East Side

    ReplyDelete
  60. Shounak, oh, East Side. There would probably be security checkpoints every block to the house from 5 blocks away.

    ReplyDelete
  61. @Ryan Connor: Politics baby its all fair game. I don't support him either but he is doing what a Republican would too. Why wouldn't you want more support?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Jerzy his support may actually hurt the Democrats running because of his low approval rates and many people's feelings that the Democratic party is not accomplishing anything.

    ReplyDelete
  63. @Ryan Connor: GOOD!

    ReplyDelete
  64. @Ryan Connor. Considering how densley populated the area is, I feel bad for anyone who lives in East Side. There is going to be utter chaos

    ReplyDelete
  65. Honestly, it's just the President.....
