Find examples that illustrate your point and discuss them on the blog.

  1. Going too far to get a story is when you full out stalk the person to get the story. An example is like going to their house and trying to get a story off of them.

  2. ANDREW VEIGA NOT JOHN GUARINO
I think it is absolutely pathetic when paparazzi in the world follow particular celebrities wherever they go. Stalking them is going way too far.

  3. Going too far to get a news story would be anything that violates the Constitution or somebody's personal life, unless their personal life puts others in jeopardy.

  4. You can go as far as until you hurt someone in a way. You should try to get the best story possible so that your paper gets it faster than everybody else.

  5. I think too far is when you get stories illegally or without permission of the person your filming or innterviewing.

  6. Something that is too far is stalking them and going to their house in order to find a story about them

  7. (Adding to previous comment) Much like everybody said, this includes stalking.

  8. I agree with andrew that it is really annoying in how papparazi follow celebrities where ever they go.

  9. I heard a story about this journalist who went as far as to hiding in the celebrities bushes just to get a picture of the celebrity swimming.

  10. but even if their personal life can bring harm to others thats no reason to stalk people

  11. Interrogation and torture are also things that would be considered going too far.

  12. Some reporters go too far to get what they need for a story. Sometimes they are insensative to other people and will do whatever they have to, to be the first one with the story. I think that even though the people they are usually covering are celebrities stalking them everywhere and invading their privacy such as by going to their home is going to far to get a story.

  13. "Too far" would be considered when your rights to something or someone stop, and the other person's or peoples who's story you're trying to get rights' start. Stalking someone would be considered too far, doing something to physically harm someone or something else would be considered too far. A good example of this would be paparazzi, they go to extremes to get a good picture or a good story of a celebrity or person of importance.

  14. i think practically stalking someone is going to far.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Too far would be journalists spying on someone who they need to know about such as celebrities. They shouldn't have to get in through a window or somthing and then hide to get a picture of someone.

  16. I think certain things that go to far are stories about celebrities such as the newest Brittany Spears drama. Someone made a haox recording of her saying that her ex had abused her. Honestly stop messing with her people.

  17. John, that is one creepy guy. Also, I guess this may be one reason why Twitter was invented, so people could stop trying to go to the extreme to get a news story. This is also somewhat faulty though because people can simply lie on Twitter.

  18. Ryan that is not the only things that can be going to far. Also things like blackmailing and making them do stuff they dont want to is going to far.

  19. examples people lets see examples

  20. Obviously " going to far" could be stalking someone, and following them to their house. Our parking at their house and waiting for them to come out, all of which the paparazzi has done. The paparazzi are a good example of "going to far." The paparazzi have gotten so bad that they have even caused some celebrities to get into car accidents.

    ReplyDelete
  21. John, things like that happen all the time. It's not uncommon for a celebrity to walk out of their house one day and see people aiming cameras at their faces.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Going too far to get a story is when a person goes and hurts another individual in some way. Whether it is physically or mentally, it is not right.

    ReplyDelete
  23. An example of not going too far is when for example an athlete is getting interviewed it the locker room after a game. Going too far is when the papparazi follows that athlete into a store or a resturant in order to get and interview with that celerity.

  24. I agree with Jerzy. This would include making things up about a celebrity or anyone in order to provoke more journalist to investigate the story.

  25. I agree with Andrew, it must be really annoying when celebrities get followed around. I feel bad for them. All the paparazzi wants are storys about them. There's no need to follow them around every second of the day.

  26. I agree with ryan connor, and jonathan. Paparazzi and reporters can be extremely insensitive, but then again it's their job, and it's what they have to do in order to be considered a good reporter, and to make their way to the top. However it does come to a certain point when it crosses the line.

  27. I agree with Ryan. However, there are some things that people don't always want to share on Twitter. Such as going to rehab...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Veiga, that is the definition of too far!! If you camp out in someones yard just to get a few blurry photos of a celebrity slamming a door in your face the your trying to hard!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Alec, there are tons of other things, I was just naming a few. Do not forget kidnapping, drugging, abusive behavior, etc. etc.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree with Zach, doing something illegal to get a story is going too far.

    ReplyDelete
  31. To far is at the point where u begin basically stalking,or as Jerzy said, making things up about someone in order to get the story you want.

    ReplyDelete
  32. the paparazzi is a perfect example of a group of people, " taking it to far"

    ReplyDelete
  33. Reporters dont nessicarily care about other people's feelings, like who their reporting. Say something personal just happened to the interviewee, they will sk questions anyways, ignoring how they feel and how they react to the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  34. ya i agree jerzy making up fake things about the person would be going to far.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I agree with Zach also.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Going too far with a story is stalking for an example. When people do this, they are messing around with other people's personal life.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I also watched this story about this celebrity who was crying in a corner with the papparazi surrounding her and taking pictures. One of the members of the papparazi said out loud in front of everybody that they were going to follow her to her house and wait out side her door.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Another way you could go to far is if you hurt someone. Many reporters find out more than they have to and expose personal information about people. These kind of stories are emotionally damaging to the person, unprofessional and uneccasary.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Going too far is when the person clearly doesnt want to answer you but you are persistant to get an answer or some dirt on them. for example, a little while back a tmz cameraman got the camera hit out of his hands by a body guard becasue they would not leave them alone and kept following them.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The whole twitter thing is their choice. But seriously how do these papparazzi people live with themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  41. i also agree with zach that taking it to far is doing something illegal

    ReplyDelete
  42. Xinrui, yes, that is why its illegal.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think that things like invading another person's privacy is going too far to get a story. Another thing is going into illegal territory to get information. Things like wikileaks, where a private first class in the military downloaded classified documents and posted them onto the web is going too far. The documents were taken and then posted on the web for everyone to see when this can affect foreign relations and the lives of some military personel.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Someone could be seriously injured when other people are stalking them.

    ReplyDelete
  45. To add to what chris said tweaking the story and putting in false information to make the story more interesting is too much and I would imagine you could be sued for it

    ReplyDelete
  46. Too far for a story is when you ask them intimate things about their private life that they do not wish to share. I mean unless this person has a lot to hide and it is a big interview then you should be having friendly banter in an interview.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree that the Paparazzi is a great example of going to far.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The problem is that violation of someone's personal life is what we are calling "going too far", but the news stories that a lot of people want to know are about their personal lives, so to get that information people need to "go too far" and it continues in a vicious circle.

    ReplyDelete
  49. and i agree with many others that making up things just to get a story is going way over the line

    ReplyDelete
  50. Veiga makes a valid point and I think that interviewers shoud ask basic questions unlesss directed other wise.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I also agree with zach that doing something illegal is definitely going too far.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Jessica, how could you or someone else get hurt when stalking a celeb. I cant really see that happening

    ReplyDelete
  53. Everybody seems to have the same ideas about what is wrong

    ReplyDelete
  54. I agree with Mike that going to far also means invading a persons privacy just to get a story out. Doing that is unhumane and simply unproffesional.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Going to far in a story is telling an opinion. I think that facts are facts, no matter how crazy or graphic they are, the people deserve to know. What would be going too far is giving an opinion about it. For example, I tell someone that Marissa killed someone. Going too far would be to say that she is a physco and weird and things like that.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Zach, Jessica is right, people have definitely been assaulted.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I agree with mike, it's no one's bussiness but their own. Going back on what I said, even though a reporter is just doing their job, some topics were too far.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think ryan connor makes a good point because even though it may not be right for people to go "to far" but it may have to be done to get the story sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  59. i think that going far in a story is trying to know the unnesary details in somebodys personal life.i think Paparazzi dont know the real effect of what words can do to somebody which isnt far even though their celeberties they should still get treated like human beigns have some private space during there day stalking is just crossing the boundre
