Discuss your thoughts on our trip to Bryant 3/4/11. (Know/Want to know/Learned)
I thought the field trip to Bryant was a helpful feild trip that gave us an inside look at more advanced types of broadcast journalism. I thought it was interesting how they needed many different angles of lights in order to give us the image of a newscaster that we always take for granted (no shadows).
I really liked the Bryant field trip. The whole news control room was very cool. I didnt know that much work went into making a single newscast. My favorite part was the soundboard
The Bryant field trip was amazing. There are literally no other words to describe it. I found it to be extremely helpful and insightful. It was a great simulation of what an actual professional studio actually looks like.
The bryant field trip was interesting because you got a behind the scenes look at a broadcasting studio. Then you got to see the final product on a past newscast which i thought was interesting
I thought that the Bryant field trip was really fun and informational. It let us view the facilities of Bryant and learn more about their equipment. If we did like what was goiing on there, we could decide to continue with journalism and maybe even start a career in that field.
I agree with Ryan. It was interesting field trip that gave us an inside look at how things work in a studio. I knew about how important lighting was but to see the way it worked was something else.
That guy that was with our group must have aspired to be a model, because when picozzi asked him to take a picture, he was all over that table. (hottt)
I really enjiyed the trip to Bryant. I had fun learning about he different controls and all the cool stuff there is to do in this field. It made me start to consider finding a career in brodcast journalism.
Some things I wanted to know were how the lighting was put into use, how camera angles were important, and how sound effects were put into use whether it be a song or a sound. All of these questions were answered during the field trip.
I think my favorite part about the studio (besides the food) was the downstairs studio cameras. I had the honor of operating one and I felt like I was on FOX news.
Meredith Walsh: The field trip to Bryant was very helpful if you want to go into broadcast journalism. It showed how a real tv show is like because it had all the special affects and different camera angles. It was a great experience to learn about broadcast journalism.
I liked the field trip to bryant. It was an interesting experience that showed us what a real broadcoast studio looks like, and what its like to work in one. It was also fun to be on a college campus. I think that everyone got a lot out of the field trip and we should go again.
I really enjoyed the Bryant field trip. It was very interesting to see everything that goes into a single news broadcast. My favorite part was seeing the recording room and how they use different camera angles and lighting to create the broadcast.
I thought the trip to bryant was fun. Playing with all the toys and sound effects and junk was so entertaining, i wish we had all that stuff here and did that all the time...plus we got to miss most of the day of school. Thumbs up to that
I liked the fact that we were able to play around with all of the equipment and see what everything did. Some of the things that they could do was really cool. Also, we were able to see how they made some of their shows in the editing room and that was interesting as well.
The field trip to Bryant was really interesting. I had a lot of fun looking at all the equipment. We were given an insightful tour around on the professional broadcast studio. Overall, I think everyone learned a lot.
I thought the field trip was a lot of fun. I learned about the controls in a media room and how live broadcasts worked. I liked that it was "short and sweet" and got right to the point.
i thought the fieldtrip was awesome.except i think its a shame that the students in Bryant dont tune in to the radio or tv shows considering how much effort the staff puts into it.
I also enjoyed how they could create all of the effects by adding visuals and sound effects to the newscast. I like how you got to see how they created the theme music and effects because when you watch the big name newscasts you now understand how they get the effects in.
i agree with michaela, it was fun to be on a college campus. Except, the tour guide people were both kind of weird but that's ok...I also liked doing a close up on people and making them feel uncomfortable. I liked being in the control room rather than down in the studio
Going to Bryant, I wanted to know how the cameras worked, and I am glad we got to see that. I also thought it was different how the teleprompter was being projected onto the camera lens. However, I think my favorite part was the sound room because there were a lot of very strange options that probably wouldn't be used in everyday news casts.
I really liked the Bryant field trip. It was really cool and interesting to learn about what really goes on to make an actually news broadcast. My favorite part was going in the sound room.
The field trip really made me consider going into the journalism field when I go into college. I have no idea what I want to do yet so I will definitely consider it.
Caley Remillard I think that the Bryant field trip was a lot of fun. I enjoyed being in the studio control room. It was great seeing everyone in the recording room, because they didn't know they were being recorded at first.
The trip was vey fun, i enjoyed working with the different sound effects and learning about using different graphics, and the cafeteria was amazinggggg.
I agree with Ryan, the trip would have been more interesting if they would have let us play around with the equipment more. Some of the stuff they were hesistant to let us use but it would have been more fun if we could have. I also agree with Sully, the trip was very informational especially if you want to go into journalism and after the trip some kids probably were interested in going to bryant.
Meredith Walsh: I agree with marissa, being in the control room and doing close-ups on people was fun because they had no idea who the camera was pointing at.
I thought that there was a wide variety of people at bryant. The girls were VERY NICE. I was disappointed in the lack of plain bagels on Friday. I honestly expected more from a college of that standard.
I think it was a good experience to get an up close and personal, hands on view of broadcast journalism, but that has concluded to the fact that i dont like that specific area of journalism that much...just sayin..
I also agree with Rose, the fact that the field trip was "short and sweet" definetly made it better. Many field trips and presentations drag on forever and no one is really interested, but this one was different. The field trip seemed to go by fast because most of the time we were moving around and doing things.
OH and not to mention the dunkin donuts on that campus had such bad customer service, do you think there is anywhere i can file a complaint? They were slacking in most food and beverage items, messed up multiple orders, and were extremely rotten and rude. Thumbs down
I also agree with sully. I never knew that was how the control room worked or that the lights for the stage were that bright. Also, I didn't know that the rooms that thy're in are fake
I really enjoyed the Bryant field trip. My favorite part was the control room. I learned how all the major channels like CNN make all their graphics, switch camera shots, and play music and sound effects. It was really fun to play all the sounds like fireworks and music and fade in and out of shots.
I was a little disapointed that we didnt get to see the radio station part of the media center thing but I think it would be cool to tune in and listen to my fellow classmates.
I also agree with ryan. The trip could have been better if they allowed us to do some effects and videoing with the equipment. Maybe next year on the trip we could spend more time there and get a chance to get some experience in using the equipment.
Personally, I was a complete fan of the awkward silence when he asked who wanted to go into a journalism related career. That must have really fired him up to do this field trip. & Why was that girl out of class? Clearly she is not a devoted member of bryant.
The Bryant field trip made me think of going into the profession of Broadcast Journalism. I think it would be really cool to be on a real show, up in the control room running the show.
I thought they gave us too much of a formal tour and not just a short educational lecture. It would have been better if they just told us the basics of what they do, and if we wanted to know more we could've asked questions. Then we could have played around with the equipment or find out how specific things worked.
I agree with Marissa! Although i liked having a dunkin donuts on campus, the costumer service at it was rididculous! The people working there were extremely rude and gave you attitude when they screwed up your order.
I agree with john, the most i learned from that trip was probably about lighting, (and bad dunkin donuts) and the different types of lighting that accentuate different features.
I am disappointed that we were showed how to properly edit a video, add sound, and other things AFTER we submitted the final copy of our broadcast. It does not feel great to know that there were alternatives that may have been easier than how we did it.
I agree with Devin. However, the cafeteria was way to expensive. It was $5.85 for chicken nuggets plus $1.99 for fries. I didn't think college food was that overpriced. It's much cheaper to just go to the Subway or Dunkin Donuts at Lincoln Mall
I enjoyed my trip to Bryant, I thought that the whole building we went in was awesome and that it had a lot of cool gadgets to listen to. The interview room and the technical room, I learned, are next to each other and that they can control one another, it was pretty interesting.
I agree with ryan and xinrui. Our tour was in two rooms and that can get boring standing there for over an hour and a half. It would have been a much more exciting trip if they let us try to use some of the equipment. It could have helped us with editting now as well as later on when some of us will be doing more advanced things in journalism.
SAYING JACLYN!!That man in the interview room was very serious and it did not seem like he was having a good time. I liked the field trip and I would go back in a heartbeat but I don't think they where too excited and I dont know why because they all told us they had spring break the next day!! I would be exctied.
Overall I think this was a very good experience. We were able to see how professional these students were able to be in their studio. Everything is quality in there and it is a good working environment.
i enjoyed this field trip. it was just a little boring at some parts of the trip. but i enjoyed seeing what there whole setup looked like. exspelerly (sp?) seeing how they did the editing. i always wondered exzackly what they do. like if they do it while they are filming or after. i learned that you have to be really good to be able to do it while you filmed. btw. i agree i wishh that we had food like that in our school. i jsut might go to that school. (if i hadnt of walked through that gate..)

ReplyDeleteThe student caf is very nice, and it was fun to hangout there and eat.

ReplyDeleteI think that they should have let us play around with the equipment more, I wanted to see more about how you could manipulate the sound effects.
ReplyDeleteSome things I wanted to know were how the lighting was put into use, how camera angles were important, and how sound effects were put into use whether it be a song or a sound. All of these questions were answered during the field trip.

ReplyDeleteI agree with marissa. Missing school was an added bonus <3

ReplyDeleteI liked their cafiteria too. I wish ours was that awesome
ReplyDeletei agree with what rose said...i learned alot about communications.

ReplyDeleteyea the cafeteria was invigerating.
ReplyDeleteThe field trip really made me consider going into the journalism field when I go into college. I have no idea what I want to do yet so I will definitely consider it.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Rose Tracy, I liked how we went right into the sound room and did not waste any time.
ReplyDeleteCaley Remillard
ReplyDeleteI agree wtih Veiga, the field trip did make me consider going into the journalism field.
I also agree with Rose, the fact that the field trip was "short and sweet" definetly made it better. ReplyDeleteI also agree with sully. I never knew that was how the control room worked or that the lights for the stage were that bright. Also, I didn't know that the rooms that thy're in are fake

ReplyDeleteI agrere with all the things Devin said
ReplyDeletePersonally, I was a complete fan of the awkward silence when he asked who wanted to go into a journalism related career. That must have really fired him up to do this field trip. & Why was that girl out of class? Clearly she is not a devoted member of bryant.
ReplyDeleteAlso, we got a lot of odd and confused looks from college students, wondering why we were there...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Veiga, this field trip really made me consider a field in journalism or possibly going to Bryant.
ReplyDeleteThe Bryant field trip made me think of going into the profession of Broadcast Journalism. I think it would be really cool to be on a real show, up in the control room running the show.
ReplyDeleteI ejoyed how they can change the lighting to emphasize certain parts of a persons face.
ReplyDeleteOh my god yes marissa. I almost threw a coolata @ the lady who just wouldn't give me the right flavor...
ReplyDeleteI thought they gave us too much of a formal tour and not just a short educational lecture. It would have been better if they just told us the basics of what they do, and if we wanted to know more we could've asked questions. ReplyDeleteI agree with devin that was so awkward when not ONE person said they wanted something to do with a journalism career
ReplyDeleteI agree with Marissa! Although i liked having a dunkin donuts on campus, the costumer service at it was rididculous! The people working there were extremely rude and gave you attitude when they screwed up your order.
ReplyDeleteI agree with marissa and did anyone else notice that they all walk alone??? the bryant kids need some friends...
ReplyDeleteI did not appreciate the service people in the student center. They rushed us and messed up my sandwich.
ReplyDeleteI agree with merrry. I'm not sure I'd want to be on the show but I would love to be behind the scenes directing it
ReplyDeleteI agree with john, the most i learned from that trip was probably about lighting, (and bad dunkin donuts) and the different types of lighting that accentuate different features.

ReplyDeleteAgreed with Jaclyn!
I agree with Ryan, I don't think many people were actually paying attention to the formal tour, everyone just wanted to play with the equipment.
ReplyDeleteThe workers were very rude and you could tell that they did not like their jobs! I agree with you Jaclyn...they need a hug!
ReplyDeleteThe Dunkin Donuts lady gave me the wrong size, wrong flavor iced coffee..
ReplyDeleteI agree with Xinrui, I saw a lot of people were zoning out, especially in the sound room.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my trip to Bryant, I thought that the whole building we went in was awesome and that it had a lot of cool gadgets to listen to. The interview room and the technical room, I learned, are next to each other and that they can control one another, it was pretty interesting.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree with Ryan and Xinrui, although I think everybody did a good job following directions and not ruining any of the equipment. Thumbs up.
ReplyDeleteXinrui your post is irrelevant to the educational portion of the field trip. Tough Luck that you got the wrong size. Lol, just messing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with ryan and xinrui. Our tour was in two rooms and that can get boring standing there for over an hour and a half. It would have been a much more exciting trip if they let us try to use some of the equipment. It could have helped us with editting now as well as later on when some of us will be doing more advanced things in journalism.
ReplyDeleteThe service was very poor at the Subway. The lady making the sandwichs just wanted me to leave
ReplyDeleteSAYING JACLYN!!That man in the interview room was very serious and it did not seem like he was having a good time.
